Skincare is not one-size-fits-all. With all the skincare products lining the aisles of the drugstore and Sephora, it can be hard to know what works. Many of us have a couple of holy grail products that shine amidst the piles of regrettable face washes and moisturizers, so I asked around Thirty Seventh to get the lowdown on our staffers’ ride-or-die skincare favorites. Here’s what I was recommended:

“My must-have skincare product is definitely Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. I swear by it – morning and night. I use it after I wash my face to keep my skin from getting too dry, especially as the fall air turns brisk. As someone with acne-prone, combination skin, I absolute love Clinique’s lightweight, silky formula that leaves my face feeling fresh — minus the heavy residue that often accompanies other moisturizers. It all started when fifteen-year-old Jojo borrowed her Mom’s Clinique moisturizer. I got my own pump of it, then another, and another…and here I am today, twenty-years-old and still loving the same “dramatically different” lotion.”

“My favorite skincare product is definitely PanOxyl foaming wash. I use the maximum strength container with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide, and wash my face with it every night before going to bed. It removes all of the oil and sweaty buildup that skin accumulates throughout the day, especially in the T-zone.”

“My big, trusty water bottle! Honestly, the best thing I’ve learned to do for my skin is to drink water. I am a minimalist when it comes to skincare, so I don’t use too many products on my face, making water the ride-or-die skin “product” for me.”

“I simply clean my face and my chest/shoulders with this every day. It helps keep my acne down and is especially nice when I am freshly shaven.”

“I love Korean skincare products because they are more suitable for Asian skin. My skincare routine usually begins with Skinfood Tea Tree Foam Cleanser, which is gentle and good for acne. Then I wipe my face with Sum Skin Refresher and spray on Missha Essence Mist. Then if it’s nighttime I’ll use Mizon’s Sleeping Mask and if it’s day time I’ll use Mizon’s All-in-one Snail Repair Cream followed by a sunscreen (not featured). Lastly, I swear by Smith’s Rosebud Salve, which is a great lip balm and moisturizer for any part of your body. These aren’t the only products I use, since I like to switch it up once in a while but I highly recommended these if you’re looking to try something new.”

“My latest skincare obsession comes from a Georgetown alum’s natural skincare brand called willa (check our my review here). Their Zero Shine Oil-Free Mattifying lotion is more effective than every other moisturizer on the market I’ve tried – even those from cult favorite brands like Clinique and Kate Somerville. “

“The product I like best is a strong apricot scrub.  It’s great for people like me who have trouble with acne, since it’s amazing at buffing away scars and leaves your skin really smooth after you use it! “

“The Peter Thomas Roth Firm Rx Exfoliating Facial Peel has changed my skin. As someone with acne-prone and sensitive skin, I rarely find products that make a huge difference but this one is incredibly effective and gentle. As you massage it on your face post-face wash, you can feel your dead skin roll up between your fingers (gross I know!) My skin has never been clearer, brighter, or more even.”

“I’ve had a Clarisonic for almost a year and use it twice a day with a pretty mild face wash. I have oily skin so the Clarisonic serves me well and always makes my skin feel so clean after I use it, but I know that for people with drier or more sensitive skin, twice a day can be too much. If anything, the Clarisonic is a great supplement to anyone’s skin care regimen for the occasional deep clean.”

I hope these recommendations can help make your skin a little healthier and your skincare shopping trip a little less hectic next time. What are some of your must-haves? Let us know and we’ll give them a go – we’re all about pampering ourselves with new products.
