Let’s face it – no one has time to shower and change after working out before their next class or club meeting.  Here’s your go-to guide for getting sweaty in the gym to killin’ it in class: the essential cosmetics to load up your gym bag and fashion tips to seamlessly transition your gym glam to street chic.  

Gym Bag Essentials:

For starters, always bring a towel with you to the gym in case you work up a sweat.  Start your workout with light makeup – I recommend a tinted moisturizer and mascara – but bring the essentials to touch up post-workout.  Also, keep your hair up while working out and avoid a pony bump by braiding or using a soft elastic.

Now, here are the essentials for a post-gym beauty break:

Dry shampoo

The must-have hair savior!  Be sure to find one that works for your hair type and color.  To apply, spray evenly onto the roots of your hair and let it sit for 30 seconds.  Then brush through or tousle with your fingers (Sephora starting at $10).

Hairstyles to rock:  A messy bun or a French braid.

ProTip: Once your hair is braided, gently pull the edges of your hair to loosen up your braid and give it some volume.

Oil blotting sheets

Quickly dab away sweat and shiny spots (CVS $5).

Pressed or loose powder

Powder is one of my favorite products because it’s easy and looks great!  Just freshen up post Yates with a quick touch of powder and you’ll be ready to post-up: Flawless.  

Try Neutrogena Pressed Powder (CVS $12) or Mac Mineralize Skinfinish (maccosmetics.com $32).

Roll on perfume

Especially coming from a long elliptical session, smelling sweet is a must. Try freshening up with a sweetly scented roller ball – I recommend Lancome’s La Vie Est Belle or try a deeper fragrance with Si by Giorgio Armani (Sephora $28).

Fitness Fashion:

Nail your transformation from workout wear to class clothes with these four awesome looks:

BOHO

The best way to nail the Boho vibe is to layer, layer, layer.  Throw on a sweater and scarf and you’ll be ready for the day in style and comfort.

EDGY

Start with a graphic workout shirt and add a flannel and moto or leather jacket.  Throw on a pair of sunglasses and you’ll be a rebel with a cause (to get to class).

FLIRTY

Pink and pastels are the way to go here.  Add some girly jewelry to your workout outfit and finish off the look with some blush.

SPIRITED

Show off your Gtown pride!

What about the shoes? Don’t change ‘em!  What goes better with a fitness fresh look better than some rocking Nikes?  Um, nothing!  Channel your inner athlete and sport your tennis shoes all day long – not only are they super comfy but you can quietly boast that you had just hit the gym.  

Now go grab a latte and you’re ready for the runway – or your 10 am.
