The temperature has dropped, which means it is time to pull out the sweaters, boots, and, most importantly, the velvet. This fabulous fabric has become very popular, but while many people wear and love it, they often do not know just how versatile velvet truly can be. From job interviews to concerts there really is no wrong place to wear it; it comes in all colors and in all styles from dresses, to pants, to swimsuits. Here are some tricks and tips to wearing velvet for all occasions.

When someone tells you to dress professionally, velvet is often not the first thing that comes to mind. Nonetheless, pair a velvet collared button down with some black pants and boots and you have the perfect outfit for a casual interview. For something more professional, look for a velvet blazer or even a full velvet suit. Make sure to keep the colors more muted, so your look stays professional instead of gaudy.

Going out

From concerts to date night, velvet has got you covered. Pair a bright velvet crop top with some ripped jeans and statement booties to really show off your sense of style. Bonus points for a killer belt. If jeans are not your style, a silk skirt and a velvet top is the perfect fabric combo.

Sometimes a full velvet top can be a little overwhelming, especially for casual daywear; but never fear, velvet accents are the perfect solution. From flowers to polka dots, velvet can give any shirt the perfect pop. Pair it with your favorite jeans and tennis shoes and you can conquer the day in style.

A holiday party or event is the perfect occasion to go all-out velvet. From floor length and flowy, to short and tight, velvet can make any dress festive and fun. Take a spin on the classic little black dress by making it velvet (sparkles optional, but highly encouraged). You can never go wrong with thigh high boots or the perfect tights and heels combo to polish off your look.
