As wonderful as the holiday season can be, winter itself is kind of the worst. Fall fashion gets replaced with desperate attempts to wear all the warm clothes you can to combat the elements. Outside the cold, windy weather can leave skin dry and rough. Though can’t make spring come faster, we can give you tips for combating dry winter air.
Trader Joe’s Coconut Body Butter
This moisturizer smells like a coconut frosting in a way that is sweet, but not overpowering. It absorbs really well and doesn’t leave my hands greasy (or lead to weird lotion smudges on my phone screen). The cream comes in different seasonal varieties (pumpkin if you’re still feeling fall and warm vanilla for the christmas fanatic). And who doesn’t love a trip to Trader Joe’s?
Lush Honey Trap
Lush is amazing. Their products are cruelty-free, natural, sustainable, and every time I go in their store, the employees gas me up like no one else. The Lush Honey Trap lip balm is perfect for making sure your lips don’t get dry and crackly. I slather it on every night before I go to bed. The formula smells like – you guessed it – honey, but if that’s not your thing, their balms come in other fun flavors like chocolate, key lime pie, and rose-lemonade.
Glossier Balm Dotcom
If you need something extra strong in the deep of winter, Glossier has you covered. Their balms are like bougie vaseline that comes in all kind of scents and tints. It doesn’t just go on your lips — it can also be used for dry elbows or soothing sore noses when the flu hits.
Mario Badescu Rose Hips Nourishing Oil
Putting oil on your face always seems counter-intuitive, especially if you have acne-prone skin. However, certain oils like this one can be great if used sparingly. Put a few drops over your moisturizer before going to bed at night to wake up with replenished skin in the morning. It can be used every night or just when your winter skin needs a boost! Plus, vitamin C is great for making skin look glowy and bright.
Tarte Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant
Sometimes you forget to put on your lip balm (or maybe you abuse your lips with drying matte lipstick in the dead of winter like me). Either way, when your lips end up dry and cracked, using a little lip scrub followed with a little balm leaves them good as new. Tarte’s minty lip scrub does the trick pretty well with just a bit of product.
Now, go forth and combat dryness!
